What was the highlight of Hotel Nice Riviera
Great location and good value with friendly and helpful staff but in no way near 4 star standard!
The staff were extremely helpful, friendly and obliging and the mattresses were excellent. The location is ideal, close to all shops, many restaurants and cafés and transport. The hotel is also very good value for what it offers.
The hotel general supervisor (there is no manager; he has not been replaced since he retired) was very uppity and "lectured" me when I was complaining about our previous evening's request that had not been attended to, on the basis that "they" were waiting for us to wake up when, in fact, we had had breakfast half-an-hour ago. The problem is that breakfast and chambermaid services are subcontracted so she has no idea as to what is happening when. The breakfast lady was very obliging but the coffee and croissants were very poor quality. Also the swimming pool is totally unsafe for a handicapped guest, like myself, as well as poky. The hotel is wrongly advertised as having a restaurant and so offering room-service. There is no restaurant and guests have to order takeaways from local restaurants. Finally, on a slightly fussy note, although the mattresses were great, the pillows were abominable: thin and lumpy.
